Brooders vs. Extroverts
The thing is, helicopters are different from airplanes. Read why in general, why airplane pilots are open-eyed, buoyant extroverts and why helicopter pilots are brooders and introspective. Click here for the article from the August, 2009 issue of Air & Space Magazine.

In Tribute Video - Larry Snyder, Allen Barklage, Bill Houska, Rich Barklage - Created by The Guise Agency, Saint Louis. These are very large files and may take some time to start playing.

Stuck Pedals
Stuck pedals are very different than tail rotor failure. Stuck pedals occur when one of the components that change pitch angle of the tail rotor blades either fails or simply jams. Bijan Moazami - ATP, CFI, CFII & DPE examines the subject in more detail in this June, 2009 Rotorcraft Professional article. Click here.
Hot Rod Helicopter
Half-breed: Piasecki Aircraft has taken a Sikorski helicopter and bolted on airplane hardware. This includes a ducted propeller and a fixed wing. These design efforts and more are hoping the X-49A SpeedHawk will bust through the constraints that have kept helicopters slow. A excellent article from the September, 2009 issue of Air & Space Magazine. Click here.
